"The Football Flow" Has Flown

This is what a Senior Quarterback Football Player looks like.
Note:  the flowing locks....referred to as "The Flow."

"The Flow" from behind.

I recorded it for posterity....because....

It's GONE!

"ANDREW!  YOU ARE BACK!
I'V MISSED YOU SO MUCH!
MY SON HAS RETURNED!"

"The Flow" was but a memory....
"It was THIS BIG"

Of course all of his mother's friends were happy to have Andrew back too....
they love my boy...

"Andrew...haven't seen you around here in ages....we've missed you..."

Welcome back hugs from my dear neighbor too....
Welcome back....

...and might we remark that although football was fun,
heartstopping for his mother at times..
BASKETBALL IS HERE...

and the hair is ready.

Football Ups...Cause There've Been Enough Downs (No Punt Intended)

Here's a Star Tribune link about Andrew and Zach and the Zephyrs Football Team and a Kare 11 News segment about the game last night .

The thing that astonishes me are his arm muscles.

Where do those come from?

Silver Bell Meets the Paparazzi

Silver Bell is the name...
...dressing up is the game...

and "yours truly" was the gametime photographer on the scene!

It came together pretty smoothly, truth be told.....

There were little munchkins around to hold the flowers until they were needed...

"You mean these aren't for MEEEEE?????"
"Where are MY flowers?"

Instructions were given...
(lots and lots of instructions.....)
just look at Tim's "dad look."
It's a great "dad look" don't you think?  He's especially good at it...

And it was off to somebody's house for pictures....
I'm not even sure who owns the house...
I was just given an address and a time...by this point I was on a "need to know" basis...

....why?.....

....because I was the PHOTOGRAPHER remember?
And I kept taking their picture!

Once upon a time there were two tall brothers...
whose mother was short....
...hence the angle on this photo....

They were putting up with me....

...but just BARELY!"

Whoops!  Went too far!  Back off....
Retreat...
but only for a minute....

"Dude....tell your mom enough already!   She won't quit taking our pictures!"

"I can't stop her!  She won't listen to me!!!  I'm powerless!"

HOWEVER.....suddenly they got very cooperative!
It was like they WANTED their picture taken!
They did!
 I tried to be quick....
the first thirteen shots...

 They let me take closeups!...

...and shots of beautiful young ladies....

...pinning flowers on their lapels..."

They let me take pictures from behind...

 ...and from the side....

 ...just about as many times....

...as I wanted!..

IT WAS GREAT!

...and I wasn't the only parent taking pictures either....

....we were everywhere...
....we were the paparazzi...
It was fun.

Thanks boys...
...oh!....and girls.

A Season Ends

Well.....

we lost....

it wasn't even particularly close....

which is both a disappointment....

and a sort of relief.....

but at the end of the day....

it was a great season....

a blessing of friends, fun....

...competition....pain...and achievement....

and now we can celebrate the good times.

And rest.

On the Bus

The Eagles have flown.....by which I mean both boys, Andrew and Zachary (85 above), are suited up, fed well (ok...pb&j's but that is what they REQUESTED) and ON THE BUS TO THE METRODOME.  We are following shortly.  Today is the semi-finals game.  If they win this they play for the state title next Saturday!  And if they lose, we cry and life returns to a semi-sane level.  It's really a win win situation.  But make no mistake....one of those "wins" is in CAPITAL LETTERS!

OK...that "win win situation" thing....nobody else feels that but me.  And I don't really feel that way...I'm just trying to soften the blow, hedge the bets, cushion the fall....you get the idea.  I'm the mother.

So wish us luck!

I'll be sure to let you know how it all goes!

No news is good news....means we are celebrating.

Later!

To the Dome

When Andrew and Zachary were starting out in football, the big carrot held out to their teams was that the final game in playoffs would be in the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis.

I can't begin to tell you how huge of a thing this was....to...
"play! in! the! Dome!"

And now it's going to happen again in the State Semi-finals on Saturday!
This time, both boys will be on the field.
But just for a walk down memory lane...

A friend sent me these....her son (8) is standing next to Andrew (number 5).

From the sober faces, I think the above shot was before the game.

 ...during...

....and AFTER....

Hopefully we have another win "in the Dome" this weekend, but regardless, these pictures reminded me of the blessing of friends who go way back to the beginning of things with you.

Those kinds of friends are treasures from God and just can't be replaced.

Ever.

Yet another thing to be thankful for in this season of Thanksgiving!

Go Zephyrs!

Happy Birthday All!

During my recent blogging hiatus, we, the Lindquist family, have had a few birthdays!

First, in March was Katie's 14th!!!!
We had a couple of parties for her...three to be exact, so if the pictures don't seem to all be of the same event, it is because they aren't!
Lots of candles on that cake...spread out widely...but she got them all!
Way to go Katie!

But here at our immediate family celebration...

...a different story....

She  thought this was very funny.
I don't ask questions anymore.
I just go cut cake.

Saving the candle that wouldn't blow out.
It's good to know he's out there somewhere, I guess...even if she hasn't met him yet!

Then, Lily turned FIVE in April!

The Home Party....

The Private Cousin Party...

And...drumroll PLEASE>>>>>
the midnight creation of...

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!!!

Oh yeah.

THEN!

ANDREW AND TIMMY turned 17 and 11!!!!
Twinsies we call them!
Or Swedish Twins...
I just made that up.

The kids sat outside...

..they were a little squirrly...

Oh please, Aunt Suzanne, don't ever make us sit with the big kids again!
We're afraid.

Well, there was no room inside with us, that's for sure!
We had the Beck family with us and Alyse!
It was a PARTY!

The Cake...for posterity...

My boys.  Happy Birthday boys!

Now you need to know...
that in the Lindquist family...
 after each and every present...
everyone even loosely associated with the giving of that present...
gets a hug and a kiss.
You cannot escape.
It is not optional.
It happens.

In fact....
We just all kiss.
Why not?

Hugs and Kisses all around!!!
They aren't Lindquists.
They are normal.
From Europe.
But normal.

We are just a touchy feely sort of family...

I was just sayin'....

The Dude...

and

the Man.

"Man Up" now gets said at least 25 times a day in these parts.
It's a very useful phrase.
Lily doesn't want to finish her Cookie Crisp?  Man UP!
Timmy can't find his private protective gear for LaCrosse because Molly chewed it?  Man UP!
Too tired to vacuum?.....See what I mean!?

He's thinking of all the times he's going to use the "Man Up" phrase.

They're just thinking we're strange.

And truthfully....

.....we are.
